BSA ALUMNI CONTACT DATABASE |
Welcome to the support site for the BSA Alumni Contact Database. Information about the database, download modules for installation and updates, documentation are available here. There is also a mechanism for sending feedback and other communications to receive support on database issues, concerns, and suggestions.
This database was developed to provide a "quick" way for councils to establish a collection of information about their BSA Alumni. It provides the capability to create reports and other information from this data. The database is designed to be installed on local computers and, if sharing capabilities are present, accessed, updated, and information modified by multiple users.
This application and this website is not part of any official Boy Scouts of America site and is solely for the purpose of providing capabilities to local councils during the time when no "official" capabilities are available. If and when the Boy Scouts of America develops capabilities that provide this functionality for councils, recommendations will be made to provide migration to those capabilities. In the meantime, this application should be helpful to local councils in managing their Boy Scout alumni.
Please send an email to the address below and let us know you are using the database. This is the only way we have of knowing how many councils are using it. Feel free to make suggestions, give us examples of how you are using the Alumni program in your council, or anything else you would like to communicate.
Documentation on the BSA Alumni Contact Database may be obtained by clicking the button below. This will open a .pdf file that is designed to be duplex printed. It provides installation, setup, use, and maintenance information about the database.
The current version of the BSA Alumni Contact Database is 2.0. You may download it by right clicking the button below and selecting "Save target...". Save this module in your Alumni folder. If you have an earlier version of the database installed, downloading this will result in the loss of all your data -- you must perform an "update" (below) to preserve your data.
As updates to the database are available, you can right click on the button below to download the update module. It may be saved in the same folder as your production database. Install the updates by:
Close the production database
Run the update database module.
After restarting the production database and verifying that it has been updated, the update module may be deleted.
This application is written with Access 2007, a component of Microsoft Office 2007. If you are not using this version of Microsoft Office/Access, you must download and install the Access 2007 runtime to be able to use the BSA Alumni Contact Database. Information on downloading and installing this runtime module can be found on the Microsoft Download Center by clicking on the button below. When the Download Center page appears, click on the "Download" button to begin downloading the Access 2007 runtime on your system.
