Daily Contingent Trek Schedule

Philmont Treks are 12 days in duration.  During the trek, participants and the Philmont staff refer to the "day" of the trek, not the actual date or day of the week.

For the purpose of communication, we are referring to our travel days as "Day 0" and "Day 13".

Saturday, June 19, 2004

  • Meet busses at REI parking lot (Gateway Shopping Center) at 5:00 am-- DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR PARKED IN THE LOT WHILE YOU ARE AT PHILMONT.  .

  • Travel to Philmont, lunch & dinner enroute.

  • Check-in at Philmont.

  • Spend night in Tent City.
Day 1
(Arrival Day)		 Sunday, June 20, 2004

  • With Crew's Philmont Ranger, go to medical recheck, logistics, services, etc.

  • Meals in Philmont dining hall.

  • Possible equipment shakedown.

  • Tour Philmont museums.

  • Religious services.

  • Opening Philmont campfire program.

  • Spend night in Tent City.
Day 2 Monday, June 21, 2004

  • Breakfast (possibly lunch) in Philmont dining hall.

  • Depart Camping HQ for Philmont back country.

  • First night in backcountry.

  • Crew's Philmont Ranger provides training.
Day 3
through
Day 11		 Tuesday, June 22, 2004 through
Wednesday, June 30, 2004

  • Crew's Philmont Ranger departs after breakfast Day 4.

  • Backpack between backcountry campsites.
Day 12 Thursday July 1, 2004

  • Return from backcountry to Camping HQ (via bus or hike in via the Tooth of Time).

  • Check in equipment at Services.

  • Religious services.

  • Meal(s) in Philmont dining  hall.

  • Possible tour Philmont museums.

  • Closing Philmont campfire program.

  • Spend night in Tent City.
Day 13
(Travel Day)		 Friday July 2, 2004

  • Breakfast in Philmont dining hall.

  • Load busses.

  • Depart for Austin in chartered busses.

  • Lunch and dinner enroute to Austin

  • Arrive in Austin at REI parking lot at Gateway Center.
