Philmont Council Contingents

When you set up your campsite at Philmont, pay attention to the "bear-muda" triangle.  This is the area between the cooking area, the bear bag cables, and the cleaning sump.  NEVER put your tents inside the bear-muda triangle!  Tents should be outside the bear-muda triangle and at least 100 yards from the bear cable and 100 yards from your cooking/eating area.  The sketch below shows how your campsite should be set up.

All "smellables" should be kept within the Bear-muda triangle.  Change from your hiking/eating clothes to your sleeping clothes inside the Bear-muda triangle and put these clothes in the bear bag.
