District Names

All districts have selected a district name (this will include the non-geographic Pathfinder district.)  At the Key-3 meeting April 28, the current District Key-3 members decided the guidelines for the new district names.  These are:

  1. Cannot be any of the current district names (Arrowhead, Comanche, Green Dickson, Longhorn, Pathfinder, Pioneer, Tejas, Tomahawk, Twin Valley, Wolf Mountain);
  2. Must conform to the theme(s) of:
    1. Texas flora/fauna
    2. Texas geographic features (which includes Texas Rivers)
  3. Names may be historic names that had been used prior to 1989.

Each of the new district's submitted their name choices to the RASD committee.  The approved names for the new districts are:

Bee Cave Eanes ISD, Lake Travis ISD
Thunderbird South and southwest Austin ISD 
Lone Star Southeast Austin ISD, Del Valle ISD, Manor ISD 
Armadillo Central Austin, Mueller Redevelopment area 
North Shore Leander ISD, Lago Vista ISD
San Gabriel Georgetown ISD, North Williamson Co. 
Chisholm Trail Round Rock ISD
Blackland Prairie Pflugerville, Hutto, Taylor, Thrall, & Coupland ISD's 
Hill Country Blanco, Burnet, Llano, Gillespie, Mason Counties 
Sacred Springs Hays County
Colorado River Bastrop, Lee, Fayette Counties, Elgin ISD
Live Oak Caldwell, Gonzales, DeWitt, Lavaca Counties 
Waterloo In-school/After-school/LFL (not geographic, formerly Pathfinder District)
