Implementation TimelineFor many reasons, including unit rechartering and the district and council's annual business meetings, it is important that any district change such as that recommended by the RASD Task Force take place at the beginning of the calendar year. Consideration was given to deferring the implementation of the changes to January 1, 2009 but the decision was made that it should take place effective January 1, 2008. This will permit everyone to benefit from the efficiencies of the new structure as quickly as possible. To be able to meet an effective date of January 1, 2008, the RASD Task Force developed and followed the following implementation/transition timeline: March/April, 2007: The RASD Task Force presented the plan to the council executive committee, the council staff, the district Key-3 members, and district volunteers at roundtables or district committee meetings. Input was actively solicited during these presentations. April 28 Key-3 meeting: The RASD Task Force reviewed the revised plan with district Key-3 members. The district Key-3 members determined themes for the new district names. June, 2007: The RASD Task Force presented the final plan to the council executive board for approval with the district Key-3 resolution of support. July-September, 2007: The professional staff worked with current district leadership to form nominating committees for the new districts. The new districts met and developed a list of district name choices in keeping with the theme. These choices were submitted to the RASD Task Force who reviewed them and informed the new district of the assigned name. October, 2007: The new districts held their first Annual Business meetings at which they elected the new district leadership and adopted the new district name. January, 2008: The new districts began operation! |
