New Districts

The RASD Task Force recommended establishing 12 new geographic districts to replace the previous 9.  The Pathfinder District, which does not have geographic boundaries, is not affected by the restructuring except that it's name will be changed to conform with the theme for new district names.

The new district boundaries were determined based on many factors and the Task Force went through numerous iterations before reaching the final decision.  The Task  Force considered elements including the youth population (Total Available Youth or "TAY"), geographic boundaries, travel corridors, affinity groupings, and suggestions received from volunteers throughout the council.  Growth projections (chiefly using Texas State Data Center scenarios) were taken into consideration.  Where possible, the new districts conform to school district boundaries.  The new district boundaries should provide a manageable district structure for the next 10 to 15 years.

The district boundaries shown were presented to the Council Executive Board and were adopted at the board's meeting June 13, 2007.  At the Key-3 meeting April 28, the current District Key-3 passed a motion recommending that these boundaries be adopted by the board.
